In 2008, Monster Hunter was released by Capcom for the Nintendo DS. The game focuses on a hunter of the same name who has to avoid traps on his way through environments to hunt for dinosaurs, instead of the humanoid beasts seen in previous games. A significant change in the series was the introduction of the "wild hunt", where the hunter can choose to engage in combat with the monsters at will rather than being forced to evade them. Monster Hunter Tri was released in 2011, which included full online multiplayer over Wi-Fi. Another update to Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was released in August 2015. Monster Hunter: World is a next generation game released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January 2017.
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was released in 2005 and is an example of a dragon fighting game.
Actual Strength Blast is the latest version of the game which was released on June 26, 2019.
Fighting games
Dragon Ball FighterZ is an upcoming brawler developed by Arc System Works and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game is set in an alternate timeline after the Cell Games, where Android 17, 18, and 19 have become Gods and possess the power of the three legendary warrior orbs. Its gameplay focuses on the well-received "Attack Dash" system which allows players to keep on the move to keep enemies at bay, and its online system supports battle-royale matches, allowing four players to fight it out against each other. The game is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 16, 2018 and on PC via Steam on February 23, 2018.
The original Dragon Ball Z: Super Battle Adventure Guide was released in 1992 for the Game Boy and is an example of a fighting game.
Super Smash Bros. series
The Super Smash Bros. series is a series of games based on the popular anime series Dragon Ball. As the name suggests, the Super Smash Bros. series involves fighting and collecting items as characters from the series battle against each other. The series started out with Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64 and then continued on with Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Dragon Ball Z: Super Butōden was the first game in the series to take place outside of the Dragon Ball universe. It was released for the Game Boy in 1996 and is an example of a Dragon Ball fighting game.
